Turn on the light
So... it's been a while since I've written a blog. I've been caught up in a whirlwind of home educating my children, handling being a single parent during this crazy time and just trying to cope with each and every day. What do I turn to when myself and my children need a good ole morale boost? MUSIC! SINGING! DANCING! ART! these are vital to us all at this time. It keeps our minds and bodies healthy and brings us happiness and joy. This is why when children finally return to school (hopefully in the near future) that these subjects should be at the forefront alongside math, science and English.
If you haven't guessed already, I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter, but even more so of J.K Rowling. Her life story resonates with me and her perseverance inspires me. During this uncertain time I have found comfort in re-reading her works and reviewing her pro-found quotes. My favourite and most relevant quote for our current situation is one spoken by a wise man...
Thank you, J.K for creating such a wise wizard :)
I began the first week of the lockdown with such optimism and had created lesson plans for my children so they could still receive a good education. The second week my mood plummeted massively...it's true when they say not to look at social media too much. I spent an evening reading books and remembered this quote - it helped me re-set my mind and regain my focus.
Moving forward I have been pouring my energy into my children; making sure that they are happy and healthy at this scary time. My studies had to be put on hold so that I could have time to adjust to what is going on in our world. You would think being at home constantly would give you more time to complete work...well...it doesn't. Not for me anyways! This is another learning curb for everyone and again we are all facing it together. Of course, our university work is highly important and means a lot to all of us...but remember to be kind to yourself.
